Master of Ceremony Ng Yi-Lin opened the event expressing how wonderful it was to see so many familiar faces as well as new ones, the exciting programme for the day and thanked everyone for being part of the special celebration before handing over to the Founder of Ministerium Fur Musik, Francesca Cindy Lee.
Lee began with a recounting of a pivotal moment from a decade ago. While trying out the Boston GP-156 baby grand piano during her search for the perfect instrument, something magical happened. She became so connected with the piano that those nearby felt goosebumps, and the music traveled into neighboring homes. That's when she heard the momentous doorbell rang—a neighbour asking about piano lessons.
Ministerium Fur Musik had begun with a simple yet profound vision: to create more than just a music school. She explained that she had dreamed of building a place where students and families would come together, not merely to learn notes and take exams, but to support the holistic growth of every music student as part of a community. She envisioned a place where young musicians could flourish not just as performers but as individuals discovering their voice, their confidence and their love for music alongside others on the same journey.
Reflecting on the past ten years, Lee marveled at milestones she could hardly have imagined, the latest being this 15th recital event. Each and every recital has been a testament to students' dedication and courage in stepping onto the stage. She acknowledged the challenges they'd weathered—the relocating of studios and navigating a global pandemic that could have silenced their music. Instead, they adapted by pivoting to online lessons exclusively and discovering new ways to stay connected when they could not be together in person. Together, teacher and students also pushed through to embrace the challenge of learning a new exam board syllabus.
Lee highlighted their remarkable achievements: students setting high distinction records in both performance and theory exams, testaments to their dedication and passion. She emphasized that beyond the milestones and achievements, what filled her heart most was seeing the birth of next generation of teachers from this studio who brought fresh energy and perspectives to the community, and the relationships that had formed there—the encouragement students offered one another, the pride students and parents took in their journey together, and the way the community celebrated every small victory together. She affirmed that this was what Ministerium Fur Musik had always been meant to be.
In celebration of this milestone, Lee announced the official launch of the Ministerium Fur Musik website at mfurmusik.com, also debuting on this same day. The website will archive past performances, competitions and examination options, teachers' profiles, and extend their reach and resources to even more families.
Looking forward to the next chapter, Lee expressed her excitement for all that lay ahead. She concluded her opening address by thanking her students, parents, partners and everyone for being part of this extraordinary journey, for trusting them with their children's musical education, and for helping to create a community where music brought them together in the most meaningful ways. The event then proceeded with performances by her students and concluded with a Distinctions & Performance Award ceremony and family photo sessions.
